International Walk to School Day 2012 Lake Whitney Orlando crosswalk kids safety pedestrian walking school zone

Pedestrian Safety Volunteers Needed

Come out and celebrate International Walk to School Day 2013 by walking with Orlando area students to their school. Wednesday, October 9, Orange County kids will be walking to school together in support of safe walking behaviors, and Best Foot Forward will be there with them. We need Orlando pedestrian safety advocates to come out and support this important day.

Can you volunteer a half-hour of your time on the morning of October 9 to join in the fun? We’ll be waving “I Yield 4 Peds” signs while we walk with the kids and local leaders to various Orlando and Orange County elementary and middle schools. Bring your walking shoes, best smile and most enthusiastic wave, as we wave to passing drivers and the cameras.

Getting out there with the kids, their teachers and local leaders has always been a blast. Come join in the fun while promoting safety, walkability and healthy choices.

Participants will meet school groups between 7 – 8 a.m. October 9 and will walk as a group, usually a few blocks, to the school entrance.
