Dommerich Elementary and Maitland Middle School

  • Maitland Mayor McDonald walked with students and parents, accompanied by the Maitland Police
  • Healthy Central Florida handed out water bottles and healthy snacks to students who biked.

Brookshire Elementary

  • Parents and children were looking both ways before crossing the street. Drivers were yielding for the students
  • Crossing guard Penny helped 59 children – double the usual number of children – cross the street
  • Media Presence: WESH News interviewed a parent and Dana Harris, Bike/Walk Central Florida

Ventura Elementary

  • Orlando Police Department and Orange County Sheriff’s Office joined OCPS to fit bike helmets for students
  • All students riding into school had their own helmet properly fitted or were given a new helmet
  • 40+ students participated
  • No media presence

Cheney Elementary

  • Parents rode bikes alongside children
  • No media presence

Other participating schools included: Aloma Elementary School, Avalon Elementary School, Azalea Park Elementary, Bonneville Elementary School, Camelot Elementary School, Chickasaw Elementary School, Citrus Elementary School, Engelwood Elementary School, Glenridge Middle School, Hungerford Elementary School, Killarney Elementary School, Lake Como Elementary School, Lake Gem Elementary School, Lake Silver Elementary, Lake Sybelia Elementary, Lakemont Elementary School, Liberty Middle School, Meadow Woods Elementary School, Ocoee Elementary School, Pershing Elementary School, Ridgewood Park Elementary School, Sun Blaze Elementary School, Westbrooke Elementary School, Windy Ridge Elementary School, and Wyndham Lakes Elementary School.
