Kids get active during YMCA Healthy Kids Day

Attendees test their PED safety smarts with WalkWise surveys

There was no shortage of smiles at the South Orlando YMCA Healthy Kids Day, which took place on Saturday, April 27.  This family-packed annual event brought together community members with activities, classes, demos and challenges to keep everyone busy and active.

Best Foot Forward joined the fun by educating residents of all ages on pedestrian and bicycling safety. Kids took turns spinning the wheel and testing out their safety knowledge for comic books and stickers, while adults took brochures about trails, the Florida driver yield law and pedestrian safety. The grown-ups received a test of their own, trying out their street smarts with WalkWise surveys and then discussing the correct answers with BFFers at the event. BFF also fitted bike helmets on kids in need, who left ready to tackle the rest of their weekend on two wheels.

Many thanks to the YMCA of Central Florida for allowing BFF to join this event and share the message about safety with everyone in attendance.
